Wilma E. Williams

Wilma Elmira Williams, age 74 of Millville, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 6, 2016 at home, after an extended illness. Born and raised in Millville, she graduated from Millville High School, and then later in life, also attended Glassboro State College. Mrs. Williams worked as a secretary, and also in the cold end at Armstrong Cork and Glass Co. and Kerr Glass Co. She took off ten years to raise her son, Paul, and then worked for Rutgers University for 17 years in many different capacities, and retired in June 2003. Mrs. Williams was well-known for animal rescue, helping hundreds of animals over the years. She loved to read, especially vampire books. She enjoyed watching football with her husband and loved going to the beach at Strathmere. She also enjoyed taking historic walks with her best friend Janet Reeves. Mrs. Williams is survived by her son, Paul Joseph Williams and wife Holly of Millville; one sister Gertrude Whitaker of Millville; one grandchild Dakota Emily Williams; and her loving nephew Scott Whitaker, who helped take care of her. She was predeceased by her husband David E. Williams in 2014; her son David Mark Hester; and her parents, Wilbert and Gertrude Meyers. Private graveside services will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy Funeral Home, Millville. The family requests memorial contributions to the Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N. Delsea Dr., Vineland, NJ 08360.
