    William Nikitich

    February 26, 1938 - April 30, 2022

    William "Bill" Nikitich, age 84 of North Port, FL, passed away Saturday morning April 30, 2022, in Florida. He had been in declining health. Bill was born in the Ukraine to the late Andrew Nikitich and Evdokia (Bobel) Nikitich. During World War II, he emigrated from his homeland through Germany, and in 1951 he came to the United States, where he first settled in Beaver Dam, VA. He then lived in Baltimore, MD, Bristol, PA, Estell Manor, NJ, Rumson, NJ, Brick, NJ and Lowville, NY, before making North Port, FL his forever home. In 1956 Bill graduated from Delhaas High School in Bristol, PA, and continued his education at Goldey- Beacom College in Wilmington, DE, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Business. Bill began working in the banking industry, before becoming the owner of the Wayside Inn in Vineland. As time passed he began working as the Tax Assessor for the City of Vineland, before transferring and eventually retiring from Neptune Twp. Municipal Government. Bill was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Millville, and also St. Andrew's Ukrainian Church in North Port, FL, where he was actively involved with both churches, and also sang in their choirs. He was also a member of ODUM, Ukrainian Youth Organization. Over the years, many of his hobbies included horseback riding, RVing throughout the country, traveling and cruising, reading, fishing and boating. Bill will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years Valentina (Rud) Nikitich; his children, Natalie Ann Nikitich Goode (predeceased), Andrew William Nikitich Sr. and his wife Sandy of FL, and Pete William Nikitich and his fiancée Theresa Nicolosi of Milmay; one sister Olga Krywolap of Cantonsville, MD; five grandchildren, Andrew Nikitich Jr. and his wife Michelle, Adam Nikitich and his wife Olivia, Christina Nikitich, Kyle Nikitich and Anthony Goode; two great grandchildren, Reece Nikitich and Mia Nikitich; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two siblings, Maria Sankov and Sophia Suszczyk; and his son in law David Goode. Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Parastas Service beginning at 7 p.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. A Funeral Liturgy will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Hogbin Road, Millville. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Ukrainian Cemetery in S. Bound Brook, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to The Relief for Ukraine, c/o Ed Romanik, 640 Shewchenko Ave., Millville, NJ 08332.
