Rose Mary Reed

April 11, 1921 - December 13, 2014

Rose Mary (Mendolera) Reed, age 93 of Bridgeton, passed away in the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home where she had been a resident for the past four years. Born in Oswego, NY, she moved to South Jersey as a child with her family. During WWII she had worked at New York Shipbuilding as a welder. She then enlisted as a WAC and served in the Army - Air Force as a private until the end of the war. At war’s end she married and raised her family. She had worked for Owens Illinois and Model Blouse both of Bridgeton, and Wheaton Glass Co. of Millville. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Bridgeton. She dedicated her life to her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son Royce R. Reed Jr. of Newport; her daughter-in-law Rose Reed of Newport; one brother James Mendolera of Okeechobee, FL; six grandchildren, David Reed, Royce Reed III, Christian Reed, Erin Lam, Jason Reed, and Beau Reed; 12 great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Dolores Buzznardo and Rosalyn Assalta. She was predeceased by her husband Royce R. Reed Sr. and two sons, James Reed and Donald Reed. A graveside service will be held in Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton at a later date and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy Funeral Home, Millville.
