Jesse Alfred Taylor, age 70 of Millville, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday evening, August 21, 2018. He had been in declining health. Born in Camden and raised in Glassboro to the late Charles Taylor and Helena (Curry) McDonald, Jesse attended Glassboro High School, and also attended Cumberland County College later in life. After high school, Jesse went on to serve our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 until 1972, during the Vietnam War era. While stationed at the Air Force base in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jesse met and married the love of his life, Ada (Soto), and together they shared over 37 years of marriage until she passed away in November 2009. Upon his return from military service, Jesse went to work at Kimble Glass Co. in Vineland in the Quality Control Dept. for over 34 years, retiring in 2006. Jesse was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church in Millville. He was also a member of the American Legion Nabb-Leslie Post No. 82, Millville. Jesse was passionate about cooking, and enjoyed many vacations in Cape May over the years. Fishing was one of Jesse's favorite pastimes, whether in Avalon or in front of the Union Lake Dam in Millville. He was a die-hard Phillies fan, and also loved the Eagles, Flyers, and 76ers. He was also a big fan of golf and WWE wrestling. But most of all, Jesse treasured the time that he was able to share with his family. Jesse will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Karen Taylor of Millville and Christina Blanck and husband Carl of Glassboro; one son Charles A. Taylor and fiancée Michelle Gephardt of Clementon; one brother David McDonald and wife Laura of New York; one sister Joyce White and husband Bernie of Monroeville; eight grandchildren, Michael, Christina, Danielle, Anthony, Derek, Samantha, Christopher, and Carson; one great-granddaughter Sophia; five nieces; many cousins; and his best friends Jack Uhland and Refus Bell. A Funeral Service for Jesse will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Family and friends are invited to call between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville.
