George Steven Chester Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George Steven Chester, age 75 of Millville, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly, and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Sea Isle City to the late Kenneth and Jewell (Watts) Chester, George was raised in Millville and graduated from Millville High School. George worked in construction most of his life and was an excellent craftsman, especially when it came to drywalling. Anyone who had the privilege to know him, loved him. It was said that if you could not get along with George, then you couldn't get along with anyone. George was very well known to put others before himself, always lending anyone a helping hand that needed it. Besides his love for helping people, George was an avid animal lover, and would help any animal in need. When George wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time with his family and closest friends. Watching old Westerns and eating sweets were a few of George's other favorite pastimes. George will be greatly missed and is survived by his two sons, Steven Chester and wife Sue of Millville and Robert Chester and wife Cindy of Warrior, Alabama; four grandsons, Steven Chester, Jr., Jonathan Chester, Holton Chester (Emmali), and Austin Chester; one granddaughter Kelli Chester; one great-grandson Owen Clay; one great granddaughter Brenlee (who is on her way); one brother Kenneth Chester (Louise) of Vineland; one sister Charlene Beal (Larry) of North Carolina; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many great friends. He was predeceased by his brother David Chester; and his sister Jeanette Hackett. A Memorial Service for George will be conducted on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
