Frederick William Garrison, II Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Fred Garrison, age 71 of Cedarville passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday September 19, 2021. He had been in declining health over the last year and a half. Born and raised in Millville, Fred graduated from Millville High School, Class of 1968. Although Fred’s life with us has ended, his soul now starts a new journey. Fred was the son of the late Frederick C. Garrison and Leona (Baker) Garrison and was named after his grandfather Frederick William Garrison. As a young child, Fred’s father taught him his skills of drafting and his machinist profession. Fred followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather and continued to develop his profession and skills as a machinist at Wheaton Glass Company in Millville. He later developed a coating which was used on paddles for the machines of Wheaton Glass. Fred continued to work with his father at his own machine shop in Cedarville. After his father’s passing, Fred then ran the business. Fred’s outstanding math skills also allowed him to further his profession. While Fred loved to work, he had a passion for muscle cars. He had the skills, knowledge, and ability to out drive anyone in Millville. He continued his life teaching his son Keith and grandchildren, Jarrod and Abby his skills. Fred’s other passion was fishing. His personal passion for fishing lead him to obtaining his Captain’s license which then led him to running his own charter boat, including the Yankee, Jeannie K, Showtime, and the 50 foot Gillian named "Angler". In all of Fred’s lifetime his love of cars continued through life. The next move in life for him and his wife Sharon was the start of their towing business in Cedarville, Patriot Towing. Together they built their company, towing for NJ State Police. The legacy he leaves are his skills, knowledge, and passion to his son and two grandchildren which has served them well, and they will continue and pursue the gifts he has given. Fred will be sadly missed by his loving wife of over 21 years, Sharon (Rigoli) Garrison of Cedarville; his son Keith Appleby and wife Tiffany of Cedarville; his two grandchildren, Abby Appleby and Jarrod Appleby, both of Cedarville; and his loving Dalmatian, Hemi. He was predeceased by his loving dog Sarge. A Funeral Service for Fred will be conducted on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. Out of respect for the family, kindly wear a mask while in attendance of the viewing and funeral services in the funeral home.
