Earl C. Pittenger Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Earl C. Pittenger Jr., age 62 of Millville, died suddenly at his residence Thurs. morning, Jan. 15, 2015. Born in Newton, he grew up in Ledgewood and graduated from its high school. He was a graduate of Stockton College and worked in retail for several years. He returned to school and entered in and graduated from the Atlantic Community College Culinary School program. He then worked as a chef for the Hilton Casino. Currently, and for the past 12 years, he had been working as a chef for the Lakeside Shop Rite of Millville. He enjoyed cooking. He formerly attended St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church of Millville, and more recently, Fairton Christian Center, Fairton. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially valued many fishing opportunities with his son Chris. He had restored antique cars and often traveled to Dover, DE for NASCAR races. He was especially fond of animals and his pets. He is survived by his wife Debbie (Fox) Pittenger; his son Christopher Scott Pittenger of Dividing Creek; his step-son William Schwegel of Iowa; his brother Ronald Pittenger of Ledgewood; his sister Regina Sutton and husband Gene of Ledgewood; his granddaughter Eleanor Schwegel of Iowa; a niece and a nephew; and his yellow lab Sadie. He was predeceased by his parents Earl Carl and Helen (Franek) Pittenger Sr. Funeral services will be conducted on Mon., Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville. There will be a viewing in the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m. before the service. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Millville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cumberland County S.P.C.A., 1244 N. Delsea Dr., Vineland, NJ 08360.
