April 15, 1948 - July 27, 2021
Cynthia Jean (DeGeorge) Minkwitz, age 73 of Franklinville, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday morning, July 27, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Atlantic City to the late William and Margaret (Kerns) DeGeorge, Cindy was raised in Hammonton, where she was a longtime resident until moving to Millville, and lived there for 9 years until recently settling in Franklinville. Cindy graduated from Hammonton High School, Class of 1966, and then went on to earn her Registered Nurse certification in 1969, training at St. Joseph's Hospital Nursing School in Paterson. Cindy enjoyed a long career of over 50 years helping others as a Registered Nurse at many area hospitals and nursing homes, retiring several years ago. Enjoying coffee, following the Phillies, and going to the beach in Ocean City were but a few of Cindy's favorite pastimes. Most of all, she treasured her time with the grandkids, for her grandchildren brought so much love and joy to Cindy's life. After retiring, Cindy was a devoted foster parent for over ten years. She took great pride and joy in making a difference in a child's life. Cindy was known for her love of making pancakes for her family every Sunday morning. She loved the beach, taking her grandkids to the shore for vacations, and "relaxing, listening to the waves." Cindy also took great joy in working in her garden. She loved her plaid shorts and her iced coffee from Dunkin' Donuts. She especially took pride in her shot glass collection, which each family member has been able to contribute to from their vacations. Cindy will be sadly missed by six grandchildren, Kelsee Jackson and husband Xavien, Lucas, Jacob, Khloe, Kyla, and Makayla; other loving family members, Matthew Bandachowicz and Colleen of Millville; two sisters, Beth Pellicore and Debbie Hunter, both of Hammonton; one brother, Pat DeGeorge of Belford; two special nephews, Mark Marino and Christopher Hunter and wife Amy; many other nieces, nephews, and cousins; one daughter Kimberly Bandachowicz of FL; and loving dog and little best friend Captain. She was predeceased by one son Matthew Murray, who passed away in 2020. A very special thank you for the wonderful care received by her loving granddaughter Kelsee Jackson, as well as Kelsee's husband Xavien. A Memorial Service celebrating Cindy's life will be conducted on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Private burial will be at a later date in Laurel Memorial Park, Pomona.
