Christy Funeral Home Works to Increase Alzheimer Research Awareness
The Christy Funeral Home, working through the National Funeral Director’s Association of Brookfield, Wisconsin, has linked its Website: www.Christyfuneralservice.com., to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation Website: www.Alzinfo.org. The Alzheimer’s Website provides the most up to date fact sheets on the irreversible and devastating Alzheimer’s disease.
Christy Funeral Home Manager, Matt H. Christy, N.J. Lic. #2533, is happy to partner with the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation. “Not only will we be able to raise awareness about this terrible disease, but we will be able to share vital information directly to our local community.”
It is estimated that about five million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s disease, and about 360,000 people are newly diagnosed every year. The recent death of former President Ronald Reagan who died from complications related to Alzheimer’s disease has heightened public awareness of the illness.
The Fisher Research Center has become one of the leading resources for Alzheimer’s information in the country. The Foundation supports the Nobel Prize winning research of Dr. Paul Greengard and well over 60 scientists collaborating across the United States and in 17 nations.
Those working in the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research are asking questions such as the following:
- Will cholesterol pill slow Alzheimer's progression?
- Are overweight seniors with insulin resistance at increased risk for cognitive problems?
- Can a cup of tea a day keep Alzheimer’s at bay?
Families looking to make contributions to help promote Alzheimer research may also contact the Website link www.Alzinfo.org.
