Local Funeral Home to Receive National Award

Christy Funeral Home, Millville, N.J., will receive the 2002 National Funeral Director's Association (NFDA) Pursuit of Excellence Emeritus award during the NFDA's 121st Annual Convention and Expo in San Antonio, Texas October 20th - 23rd.

this mark of excellence honors firms for their outstanding community service, professional integrity and creative public relations programs. Christy Funeral Home is one of 28 funeral homes receiving the Emeritus award.

"The Pursuit of Excellence program is the premier standard for funeral service excellence, and the Emeritus award is one of its highest levels of achievement," said NFDA Chief Executive Officer Christine Pepper. "We received the "Golden Eagle
Award" last year, which was required before we could apply for the Emeritus award," said Matt H. Christy, Lic. #2533, owner and manager.

To achieve recognition in the Pursuit of Excellence program, a funeral home must meet quality service criteria in nine categories of achievement. The categories include: education, compassionate service, technical skills, community and professional service,
library or media resources, professional development, in-house staff training , and public and community relations.

To earn the Emeritus recognition, a funeral home must meet the criteria for a minimum of six consecutive years.

Monday, October 21, has been declared Pursuit of Excellence Day at the NFDA convention. The day will include workshops, as well as the award ceremony. A total of 278 firms from across the United States and the West Indies will be honored.
