Christy Funeral Home receives prestigious award
from national organization

Matt H. Christy, owner and operator of Christy Funeral Home, Millville,
was awarded the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) Pursuit of
Excellence “Golden Eagle” award at the 120th Annual Convention and World
Expo in Orlando on October 8. The program is the premier standard for
funeral service excellence, and the “Golden Eagle” award is the highest
level of achievement.

To achieve recognition in the Pursuit of Excellence program, individual
funeral home owners had to meet quality service criteria in eight
categories of achievement, which includes: education, compassionate
service, technical skills, community and professional service, library
and media resources, professional development, in-house staff training,
and public and community relations.

To earn the coveted top award, additional criteria must be met in each
category along with a scrapbook entry showing documentation. The
“Golden Eagle” is presented to funeral homes only after they have
achieved an Eagle award in three prior years. Christy Funeral Home
received the Eagle award in 1998, 1999, AND 2000. It has received
Pursuit of Excellence recognition every year since 1996.

The NFDA makes its headquarters in Brookfield, Wisconsin and has a
national office in Washington, D.C.
