Memorial tree-planting program comes to Millville

Matt H. Christy, owner and operator of the Christy Funeral Home of Millville, has announced that his firm has the necessary forms and will participate in a new tree-planting program, the New Jersey Memorial Tree Program.

This new program is a result of a year and a half of planning, and is a partnership between the NJ State Funeral Director's Association, the NJ Division of Parks and Forestry, and the NJ Tree Foundation. The local funeral home is a member of the New Jersey State Funeral Director's Association.

In addition, the Millville Shadetree Commission has agreed to cooperate with the program, to encourage beneficial tree planting in the community.

Throughout history, people have planted trees to honor deceased or living family and friends. The NJ Memorial Tree program is a way to continue that spirit of remembrance while benefiting the community with each new shade tree.

"Once the forms are completed." Christy said, "I will forward the donation to the Tree foundation on behalf of the family." A one-time donation of $175 will purchase, transport and plant the tree in the community of state park of one's choice.

Also, an acknowledgment card, reflecting the donation in the memory of the loved one, will be sent to the donor or requested third party.

As tree orders are received, the NJ Tree Foundation will make the necessary arrangements with the Millville Shade Tree Commission to plant the tree here.

Donated trees will benefit the community through cooling, cleaner air, and by reducing stress, and noise pollution. Healthy, well-placed trees add value trees add value to property, and add beauty to instill community pride.
